INAPRO at Fischfest

Thursday September 01, 2016

At the end of August, INAPRO participated to a one-day event about sustainable fish consumption in Zollbrücke.
According to the FAO, around 80% of the world fish stocks are fully exploited or overfished while the world population is growing. Therefore, the issue of how to provide sustainable fish to an increasing amount of people is getting more and more critical. In order to provide an answer to this problem, Dr. Georg Staaks of the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries, was invited to give a speech about INAPRO during the Fisch-Fest in Zollbrücke.
The theme of the event was “From global to local – what kind of fish is going to arrive on the table?” and Dr. Staaks presented aquaponics and INAPRO as environmental-friendly technologies for food production. Indeed, the fish and tomatoes produced with the INAPRO system have a very low water and energy footprint and they are healthy, tasty and sustainable!
